Renowned personality

Mr. Minn Abdus Salam (1928-1991):

Locale Board: Abdus Salam Minster was elected Member of the Northern Sylhet Local Board from 1937 to 1958.

Revenue Minister: In 1954, he was elected president of Sylhet District Muslim League. In 1962, he was elected a member of East Pakistan Provincial Assembly from Sylhet 5 constituency and was appointed the revenue and land minister of the provincial government. In 1976, he was elected president of Bangladesh Muslim League Sylhet district unit. He was a life member of Sylhet Central Muslim Literary Society

Last words: Abdus Salam was a friendly, gentle and hearty person. He was a good-natured man. People called him the time giver, Haji Mohsin

 

Mr. Fazlur Rahman (1923-2001):

Mr. Fazlur Rahman, the founder of the soil and man-of-the-art researcher, Mr. Fazlur Rahman, former Group Captain Sylhet of Bangladesh Air Force. He was born in the small village of Kainighat Union of Kanhaighat upazila on 06th. Various history and research books of Sylhet published by him were able to create a lot of interest among the public - some of which are mentioned in the Sylhet soil and people, illuminated Sylhet, mother-soil and people etc.

 

Mr. Allama Moshahid Beypupuri (R) (1907-1970):

Allama Moshahid Beypupuri (R), the reporter of the famous old-old Qawmi Madrasah Kanyighat Darul Ulum Darul Hadith, located in Kainighat upazila, is equally familiar to all as a bright artistic figure of Kainighat alim society. There are many miracles in the life of this great man, in which it is said that in order to give Lomaama while worshiping the Holy Kaaba of the holy Kaaba, the Saudi government challenged him as a lucky challenge and when he came in front of the Holy Qur'an and misled the Imam, he won the challenge Go.
