The Kanaighat bridge was built at a cost of 30 crores 5 lakh 28 thousand taka on the Surma River at the southern end of the Kanaighat municipal town. The length of the bridge is 294 meters and width is 6 meters. This is the long cherished dream of nearly 1.2 million people in the northeast region of Sylhet. This bridge built on Surma River in Kainighat Sadar. With the construction of this bridge, Sylhet district along with Kanaighat upazila is being made very easily and in many places in Beanibazar, Golapganj and Zakiganj upazilas. Upazila headquarters is just a few minutes away from this bridge.
